About Meet Magento Baltics 2019
Meet Magento Baltics 2019 was a one-day Magento conference held on Friday, 4 October 2019 at H2O 6 on Durbes iela in Riga, Latvia. It was billed as the first Magento community event in the Baltic States, and brought merchants, agencies and developers together for keynotes from Magento and its partners, merchant talks and a hands-on Progressive Web App workshop for developers. Sponsorship: Magebit sponsored the first Meet Magento Baltics, in our home city.
Stand: the team ran a Magebit stand with our flyers and company brochures, set up to meet Baltic merchants and talk about Magento development, support and the e-commerce questions they were working through.
Attendees: Arturs Kruze, Magebit’s CEO and co-founder, was there for the conference, and a conversation started there carried on over lunch in Riga the following week.
Highlights
- The future of the Magento ecosystem: Ben Marks, Magento’s evangelist, was billed for the keynote on where the platform was heading after Adobe’s acquisition of Magento.
- Cross-border e-commerce: Leendert van Delft of DHL Express spoke on the untapped cross-border opportunity for B2C and B2B merchants.
- Baltic merchant talks: Anastasija Muravjova, e-commerce development manager at JYSK, shared the retailer’s experience in the Baltics, including its move from Magento 1 to Magento 2.
- Merchant stories from further afield: Zadig & Voltaire’s CTO Jonathan Ribas on the brand’s Magento 2 migration and road to PWA, and Technodom’s CEO Peter Sebestyen on growing a leading tech retailer in Central Asia, were both on the programme.
- Security and PWA: the programme also listed Rick van de Loo of Hypernode on the Magereport vulnerability scanner, and a ScandiPWA developer workshop on building Progressive Web Apps on Magento.
