Building something real in just one weekend

On the weekend of May 8–10, Magebit and Shipyard AI brought together some of the best builders in Latvia for the first-ever Cursor Hackathon in Riga.

Over 24 intense hours, developers, designers, and makers gathered at Magebit's Shipyard space to build, ship, and push the boundaries of what's possible with AI-assisted development. The event was a testament to the hunger for high-quality technical gatherings in the Baltics — and the community delivered in full.

Teams got to work fast

Teams formed quickly and got to work from the very first hour. The Shipyard space — Magebit's industrial-style open floor venue — set the perfect tone: collaborative, focused, and energized.

With Cursor at the center of every workflow, participants moved fast. Ideas that would have taken days were prototyped in hours. Beyond the code, the event became a genuine community moment.

Conversations between builders, spontaneous demos, and the shared experience of shipping under pressure made it one of those rare gatherings where everyone leaves with more than they came with.

The winning projects

After 24 hours of building, three teams rose to the top and were recognized for their work: Helpdesk AI, Volt Recovery, and Visiondev. The range of what was built — and the quality of execution in such a short time — made it genuinely exciting to watch the final presentations come together.
