Cursor Hackathon Riga

About Cursor Hackathon Riga 2026
Cursor Hackathon Riga was a 24-hour hackathon held on 8–10 May 2026 at the Shipyard AI space on Krišjāņa Barona iela in Riga, the first Cursor hackathon in the city. It was organised by Magebit and Shipyard AI with Cursor as a partner, for developers, designers and makers with an idea they wanted to ship.
Places were by application, and 81 people registered. Friday evening opened with an inspiration keynote and team formation; hacking ran from Saturday morning to Sunday’s code freeze. Each team then had three minutes to present before judging and awards. Event details were published on Luma.
Magebit at Cursor Hackathon Riga
Role: Co-organiser, with Shipyard AI
Hosts from Magebit: Artūrs Krūze and Dāvis Benefelds.
Why we ran it: It followed the Cursor Meetup Riga in March, where it was clear Latvian builders wanted more hands-on events. Shipping a working product in a weekend with an AI coding agent is the same approach Magebit takes to AI-powered builds for clients, just compressed.
Highlights
- The brief: Build something real in 24 hours, from an AI agent or micro-SaaS tool to a Chrome extension or customer service bot, with Cursor at the centre of every workflow.
- Winners: Helpdesk AI, Volt Recovery and Visiondev were the top three teams.
- The prize: The winning teams were fast-tracked into Shipyard AI’s three-month AI Builders Program.
- Workshops: Saturday included two workshops, Prompt Engineering Essentials and Building with LLM APIs, alongside the hacking.
