GUST Live Your Major
Gulf University for Science & Technology (GUST) is the first private university established in Kuwait in 2002. In 2023, they launched the Live Your Major program in collaboration with 11 major organizations.
The goal of the initiative was to prepare students for the job market, so they don’t just learn concepts but also get to practice them in real life. The initiative spanned 13 majors. For the Management Information Systems (MIS) course, GUST partnered with Magebit, following the outstanding work that Magebit delivered on its public website in 2022.

About the project
The launch of the Live Your Major program was not a small academic announcement. It brought together major organizations and missions from across the GCC region, including the EU delegation in Kuwait, Kuwait Airways, Kuwait Finance House, and the Kuwait State Audit Bureau, alongside Kuwaiti companies like VO and V-Thru.
The initiative received wide coverage from local media, with national outlets reporting on the program as an innovative step in aligning higher education with real market needs.
Within this nationally visible setting, Magebit’s role carried significant responsibility of translating years of ecommerce, UX, and engineering experience into a structured, credit-eligible MIS course. The project marked the first time Magebit would train real-life skills to an actual university class.

The role of Magebit
Where digital magic comes to life
As the only international partner selected for the Live Your Major program, Magebit carried a strong responsibility for delivering an industry-grade academic module that met both university standards and market expectations.
To uphold that standard on-site in Kuwait, Magebit appointed three senior professionals. With extensive technical experience, these experts also brought the ability to mentor and guide students.
- Hands-on industry training
Students were trained in high-demand disciplines including project management, data analytics, UX research, AI personalization, and prototype testing. The focus was not on theory alone, but on applying these methods in real-world scenarios that mirror professional digital environments. - Engineering at a professional scale
Under the guidance of an expert developer, students worked on a live case based on Kuwait Finance House. They developed a website using Java, Spring Boot, React.js, MongoDB, and REST, gaining exposure to full-stack architecture, logical user flows, and production-level standards. - Design thinking in action
Two other experts from Magebit focused on equipping MIS students with practical UX and project management skills. Their sessions introduced research methods and demonstrated how evidence-based insight can drive smarter solutions.
Using MyGUST (a mobile app used by the college community) as a working case, participants identified usability gaps, prioritized enhancements, and proposed actionable solutions for a platform central to student life.
