Katie Loxton
Katie Loxton is a UK lifestyle and fashion brand founded by Katie and her husband, Geoff. Over the past decade, it has become a go-to destination for personalized handbags, purses, pouches, accessories, and gifts, all designed in the UK around affordable, everyday luxury.
Personalization is central to the brand. Customers can add names and initials through monogramming and embroidery, and almost every order comes with a personalized gift bag.
This personalized, ready-to-gift experience is a key part of what makes the brand distinctive, so the online store needs to make the entire journey just as simple and seamless.
In this case study:
About the project
Katie Loxton was running on Magento’s legacy Luma frontend, which had become heavy as the store grew. It was carrying more than 40 separate stylesheets, heavy and unoptimized JavaScript, and the render-blocking overhead that comes with Luma.
For a brand where many customers shop on mobile, this was becoming a real performance issue. The goal was to rebuild the frontend for speed without losing the brand’s look and feel.
The new foundation also needed to support Katie Loxton’s personalized shopping experience, including its build-your-own tools, while being fast, scalable, and easier to maintain as the store continued to grow.

Client challenges
Rebuilding Katie Loxton’s storefront required addressing several concerns:
- Improve mobile performance
- Pass Core Web Vitals and reduce layout shifts and slow interactions
- Replace a heavy frontend with 40+ stylesheets and unoptimized JavaScript
- Preserve the brand’s personalization features, including monogramming, embroidery, and personalized gifting
- Bring greater consistency to the storefront UI and checkout
- Build a faster, more reliable foundation ready for peak-season traffic

BeforeAfterThe role of Magebit
Where digital magic comes to life
Magebit migrated the store from Luma to Hyvä Enterprise, rebuilding it on Venta. With common Magento and Hyvä functionality already built in, Venta reduced custom development and let the team focus on performance and Katie Loxton’s personalized shopping experience.
- Making the storefront faster
Magebit reduced more than 40 stylesheets to a handful using Tailwind and replaced legacy JavaScript with Hyvä’s Alpine.js stack. The product gallery and site-wide carousels were also rebuilt with lighter libraries to reduce page weight and improve mobile performance. - Keeping personalization seamless
Personalization is central to Katie Loxton’s product experience, so Magebit rebuilt the personalization builder in Alpine.js. The photocard and personalized-product flows were optimized to stay smooth and responsive while retaining existing functionality. - Simplifying checkout and My Account
Magebit rebuilt the checkout using Hyvä Checkout and integrated it with Checkout.com for payments, reducing friction in the conversion-critical checkout flow. The team also rebuilt the My Account area, including the dashboard, wishlist, address book, and returns, to keep the post-purchase experience consistent with the storefront. - Getting the store ready for Black Friday
Magebit addressed accessibility issues across the storefront and used the rebuild to improve the overall experience. Ahead of Black Friday, the team also ran dedicated stress and load testing to make sure the store could handle peak traffic and demand.
