Joma Jewellery
Joma Jewellery is one of the UK's best-loved gifting brands, known for its sentiment-led jewelry and accessories that help customers celebrate life's meaningful moments. Best known for its iconic "A Little" collection, the brand has built a loyal following around thoughtful products designed to make gifting more personal.
As Joma continued to grow across its DTC and wholesale channels, it needed an ecommerce experience that could match customer expectations and support increasing demand.
Magebit was brought in to replace the legacy Magento Luma frontend with Hyvä Enterprise and Venta, creating a faster, more scalable foundation for growth.
In this case study:
About the project
Joma Jewellery’s storefront was built on Magento’s legacy Luma frontend, which had become difficult to scale. Heavy JavaScript, dozens of stylesheets, and failing Core Web Vitals were slowing down the shopping experience and limiting performance.
For a gifting brand that relies on seamless customer journeys, speed and usability directly impact conversions. Magebit was brought in to migrate the store to Hyvä Enterprise and Venta, creating a faster, more scalable foundation for growth.

Client challenges
Joma Jewellery’s legacy storefront faced several performance and scalability challenges:
- A mobile performance score stuck at 36
- Failing Core Web Vitals on the devices most customers shop from
- More than 40 stylesheets slowing page rendering
- Heavy JavaScript creating sluggish interactions
- An inconsistent checkout and user experience
- Complex personalization features that needed to be retained
- A legacy frontend that was becoming increasingly difficult to scale
- The need to be fully prepared for Black Friday demand
The role of Magebit
Where digital magic comes to life
Magebit migrated Joma Jewellery from Magento’s legacy Luma frontend to Hyvä Enterprise and rebuilt the storefront on Venta. By using Venta’s pre-built commerce foundation, the team could focus more on performance optimization rather than rebuilding standard features from scratch.
- Improving speed and performance
Magebit reduced frontend complexity by replacing more than 40 stylesheets and heavy legacy JavaScript with Hyvä’s lightweight architecture. Product galleries, carousels, and other components were rebuilt using lighter technologies to improve Core Web Vitals. - Modernizing checkout and personalization
Checkout is the most conversion-sensitive part of the customer journey. Magebit rebuilt it using Venta theme’s checkout, built on Hyvä Checkout, and integrated with Checkout.com. The team also re-engineered Joma’s most-loved custom personalization builder to be more responsive. - Enhancing the customer experience
The My Account area, including dashboards, wishlists, address books, and returns, was fully rebuilt in Hyvä. Magebit also improved accessibility and UI consistency across the storefront and carried out stress testing ahead of Black Friday to ensure the platform could perform during peak demand.
