Checkout.com chose Magebit based on our experience building Hyvä compatibility modules and working with multiple payment providers like Airwallex and more. As the Hyvä compatibility work was intended to be open source, publicly available, and used by some of the largest Magento and Adobe Commerce merchants globally, quality was critical. With Checkout.com’s brand trust directly tied to the solution, the integration needed to meet the highest standards of reliability and performance, making Magebit a trusted partner for the project.

About the project
Checkout.com is a global payment provider working with merchants that expect fast, reliable, and flexible checkout experiences. As more Magento merchants began adopting Hyvä Checkout for its performance benefits, Checkout.com identified the need to support this frontend without limiting payment functionality.
To align with its long-term goal of remaining platform-agnostic and merchant-friendly, Checkout.com needed to extend its Magento integration to work seamlessly with Hyvä. This would allow merchants to adopt a faster checkout experience while continuing to offer trusted payment methods, helping reduce friction at checkout and improve overall conversion.

This project was a natural extension of our experience building Hyvä compatibility modules and working closely with payment providers on Magento. Checkout.com trusted Magebit to take on a demanding scope, align multiple teams, and deliver a solution that worked seamlessly for merchants and customers alike.
- Building the Hyvä payment foundation
Card payments were implemented through iframe tokenization, keeping data protected without compromising performance. 3D Secure became a seamless step within the purchase flow, and returning customers could safely store cards when configuration allowed. Flexible orchestration models ensured merchants retained control over how orders and payments were processed. - Expanding payments and checkout flexibility
We added MB WAY alongside Apple Pay and Google Pay, bringing familiar methods into Hyvä with behavior merchants already understood. Express checkout in the cart and minicart helped customers finish faster, while automated updates kept orders accurate even when confirmations arrived later. - UX, performance, and delivery
Clear placement, simple error messages, and accessibility-first patterns kept the experience intuitive across devices. Close collaboration with Checkout.com resolved early latency challenges, ensuring feedback stayed real time. Releases were phased, tested, and refined in production-friendly increments, giving merchants confidence while continuously improving capability.
