Nefro Klīnika is a leading nephrology treatment provider in Latvia, specializing in kidney replacement therapy, including hemodialysis and hemodiafiltration. Since its founding in 1991, the clinic has grown into a nationwide network of 11 locations, serving 20% of Latvia’s nephrology patients.

About the project

Unlike hospital-affiliated centers like Gaiļezers Hospital, a Riga East Clinical University Hospital branch, Nefro Clinic aimed to be a modern, independent provider. However, similar legal names caused confusion, making a clear visual identity essential to reinforce their values and independence.

Nefro Clinic faced several challenges that hindered its ability to establish a strong, independent identity and provide a consistent patient experience.

  1. Similar legal naming conventions led to frequent misidentification with Gaiļezers Hospital, impacting brand recognition.
  2. The previous branding lacked warmth and professionalism, making it less inviting for patients.
  3. The absence of a brand book led to inconsistencies across locations, reducing brand cohesion and trust.
  4. The old red-dominant color scheme evoked unpleasant medical associations related to blood, affecting patient perception and sometimes evoking fear.
